We are seeking a Junior Estimator to join our Pre-contracts team based at our head office in Eight Mile Plains. This position is responsible for assisting our Estimators in producing pricing build-ups (quantity take-offs, subcontractor scope, procurement, and methodology) and accurate bids for potential civil engineering projects.
This is a unique opportunity for a Civil Project or Site Engineer to apply their project knowledge to assist in producing tenders and learn from some of the most experienced Estimators in the industry.
Our Estimating team is a cohesive team who has a high EOI and tender conversion rate, winning interesting and complex projects for us to deliver. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tenders for a diverse range of clients nationally and focus on developing your estimation skills to contribute to our continued success.
About the role:
Collaborate with Estimators to prepare accurate tender estimates, support in preparation of bid proposals and submission documents for civil construction projects.
Build and maintain relationships with Clients, Subcontractors and Suppliers.
Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to request quotes and gather pricing information for materials, labour rates, and subcontractor services.
Assist in the startup procurement for new projects and management of RFQs in line with specific tendering period programs.
Assist in estimating project quantities and costs, identifying tender schedule discrepancies and ensure timely estimate completion.
Maintain accurate records of correspondence, calculations, and methodologies for tenders.
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
Tertiary qualifications in Civil engineering or Construction related qualifications.
Demonstrated engineering infrastructure experience, preferably with some onsite experience managing direct labour, plant production, and the selection and roadworks/concrete works.
Willingness to learn and take direction from others, in particular Estimators.
Effective communication skills for collaboration with colleagues and external stakeholders.
Strong mathematical skills and accuracy in calculations.
Ability to multitask under tight deadlines and handle feedback professionally.
Current C-Class Driver’s License.
