Macquarie University Hospital (MUH) opened its doors in June 2010 as the first university campus-based private hospital in Australia. Set in the expansive grounds of Macquarie University, amid one of the fastest growing areas of Sydney and conveniently placed within walking distance of the Macquarie University underground train station, this 183 bed teaching hospital combines state-of-the-art facilities with world’s best clinical practice.
The Macquarie University Hospital Pharmacy is currently seeking a Junior Pharmacist. You will be required to work 38 hours per week Monday to Friday inclusive with potential to do the occasional weekend and be oncall in future.
You may be required to work in the main dispensary, wards, clinical trials, and relieve in front of shop . Tasks could include ordering stock, conducting medication reviews, trial compounding, dispensing, providing advice on drug selection to clinicians and patients, along with patient counsellng.
All applicants must be competent, professional and committed to providing a high standard to customer care. They will also have excellent communication skills, an ability to prioritise tasks and manage their time. They will be able to deal with patient needs in a sensitive manner. Applicants should be aware that they will be expected to work with and embrace the technology and computer systems of the hospital.
The successful candidate must possess and must be able to provide evidence of:
- Current AHPRA pharmacist registration
- Tertiary qualification (BPharm or MPharm)
- Current indemnity insurance
Highly desirable attributes include:
• Prior inpatient hospital or clinical trials experience
• Experince with Fred Dispense, Office and POS prodcts
• Familiarity with the PBS in a private hospital context
• An interest in IT/e-prescribing systems
