The Role

A role exists for a Junior Interest Rates Strategist to operate alongside the Head of Rates Strategy in producing client focused research on Australia's fixed interest rate market. The successful candidate will also work closely with the wider Research team, NAB's Quant Research team as well as Sales and Trading.

The purpose of this role is to:

• Maintain and build the quantitative offering from the rates strategy team
• Identification of relative value opportunities on an intra and inter market basis
• Help with the production of written publication and client presentations to support the investor, issuer and corporate businesses

The role is based in Sydney.

Key Accountabilities:

• Producing research relevant to the Australian bond market structure, market dynamics, securities valuation, and investment ideas
• Building and monitoring models for the identification of relative value opportunities on an intra- and inter-market basis
• Products covered will include Government and Semi-government bonds as well as interest rate derivative and money markets
• On a day-to-day basis working closely with Research, Trading, and Sales teams

What skills & attributes will I need?

• Strong statistical skills and an understanding of quantitative analysis
• Good understanding of Excel and VBA in a market's environment
• Experience in data analysis, data management and task automation via Python or similar programming languages
• Market knowledge of rates products
• Natural critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Disciplined, self-motivated with an eye for detail
• Team-player - sharing ideas, effort and successes
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills:
• An ability and interest to teach / train / educate others
• Clarity in both written and spoken communication
• Ability to listen
