Summer Lawyers is a specialist Banking & Finance law firm, acting on both front end transactions and distressed matters. We act for clients across all Australian jurisdictions and in New Zealand, including banks, financial institutions, credit funds and other private lenders, corporate and institutional borrowers, private wealth clients, receivers and other insolvency practitioners. Summer Lawyers provides specialist knowledge, advice, and legal services tailored to the finance industry. Our key focus areas include loan structuring, documentation of finance documents, recovery work and litigation.
THE ROLE
We have an opportunity for a graduate to Junior Lawyer (0-2 PAE) to join our front-end team based in Sydney.
This is a high performing team which specialises on complex transactions, covering property finance, corporate finance, acquisition finance, asset based lending, PPSA, ISDAs and restructuring.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing loan agreements and security documents
- Writing emails and other correspondence to clients, other lawyers and other parties involved in transactions
- Project management to ensure all project milestones are met
- Handling settlements in PEXA
- Attending to security registrations
- Drafting complex legal advice
- Engage in legal research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of recent cases and developments in banking and finance law
- Drafting and updating precedent documents
- Client management and relationship
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have recently graduated, working in another law firm, or working in a professional environment in a different sector. Most important is the person’s willingness and desire to retrain into a banking and finance lawyer.
The successful candidate will have meticulous attention to detail, have a strong focus on providing high quality results for clients, and be energised by multi-tasking to meet deadlines. They will have a keen interest in the banking and finance sector and the ability to manage a busy and challenging workload.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to work independently and proactively, as well as in a team.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Laws
- completion of College of Law (preferred, but not essential)
- ability to write logically and succinctly
- exceptional client relationship skills
- ability to manage and prioritise competing deadlines
- keen interest in learning or taking on a challenge
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- proactive and flexible work approach, including being a team player
