Minara Resources has an opportunity for a Junior Management Accountant to join our established and dedicated team.
Minara Resources is Australia’s largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WA’s northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. The Role
The successful candidate will become a member of a hardworking and committed team who can provide strong and comprehensive analysis on the financial impact of business decisions and proposing actions to improve performance, as well as ensuring statutory and corporate reporting requirements are met.
You will be responsible for:
- Analysing financial data and trends to provide insights to management. This includes comparing actual performance to budgets and forecasts, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions
- Participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, working closely with other departments to gather necessary information and ensure accuracy.
- Help in analyzing costs associated with various business activities or projects. This might involve calculating costs per unit, analyzing cost drivers, and identifying areas for cost reduction or efficiency improvements.
- Prepare regular management reports, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and other metrics to help management monitor performance and make informed decisions.
- Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Assist in maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This might involve participating in audits and implementing recommendations for process improvements.
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager this role would suit a detailed and process oriented person.
You will also have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
- Understanding of Australian financial regulations, tax laws, accounting principles, standards and procedures and compliance requirements
- A professional membership with Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or in the process of obtaining such membership
- A strong analytical mind with the ability to problem solve, identify trends and think logically
- Proactive in identifying and addressing issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of attention to detail.
