Make the most of this exciting opportunity to join our team as a Kayak Coordinator, helping to run our kayaking day out at the Bay of Fires (North East Coast), located near Ansons Bay.
As the Bay of Fires Kayak Coordinator, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining kayaking gear as well as supporting guides and guests through the different stages of the kayak experience. In this role, you will ensure the end-to-end operational efficiency of our kayaking day out at the Bay of Fires. Among other things, this will include transporting and briefing guests (including gear fitting and assistance using their kayaks), communicating weather concerns and logistics, and ensuring that all gear is clean and fit for purpose. The average day will have you working between 8:15am-3.30pm over five days (flexible).
The right individual will have good knowledge of the national parks, and will additionally share a passion for the national parks, with a desire to create a connection with people and place.
Given the remote location, the role will require a problem-solving attitude as well as a willingness to learn new skills. Accommodation is available when on shift is necessary.
The successful candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Resourceful problem solver and comfortable figuring things out on the fly
- Personable and comfortable building a rapport with guests
- Strong driving skills (including being confident in backing a trailer)
- Available to work on weekends as necessary
Required Qualifications (can attain within first month of employment):
- Manual Drivers licence
- Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) licence
With desirable criteria including:
- Have good bush walking experience and knowledge of the National Parks which the walks are situated in
- Kayaking experience and gear knowledge
- Experience in the tourism industry - preferably in an operational or customer service role.
