SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Janette (Jay) Martin (Owner)
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Comply with/and be aware of all Outside Adventures health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
· Run paddle sports activities, lessons, tours, expeditions etc. as required, both on and off the water.
· Set up and pack down equipment before and after sessions. Please note this includes carrying, lifting, and securing kayaks (8-25kg) to a trailer.
· Risk management.
· Other duties as directed.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications: WWCC – if over 18, Provide First Aid – or willing to obtain
Experience: Flat water paddling in a variety of locations and history of group leading (any activity).
Skills:
· Technical personal flat-water canoe and kayak competency.
· Ability to perform flat water canoe and kayak rescues.
· Good verbal communication, including one on one interactions and giving instructions to large groups.
· Good dynamic risk assessment.
· Ability to work with participants with a variety of ages, abilities, and skill levels.
· Follows instructions well.
· Can work in a team and under own initiative and problem solve as needed.
· Ability to alter tone to the situation e.g., confident, and firm or empathetic and encouraging.
Performance goals:
· Always maintain a professional appearance and manner with clients.
· Ensure that Outside Adventures has no reportable incidents.
· Promote an atmosphere of friendliness and inclusion.
Personal attributes:
· Passionate about paddling.
