Senior Overseer - Kennel Manager

What you'll do

You will have oversight of the kennel facilities and ensuring the standard regarding animal husbandry, and canine safety and welfare and provide expert advice and recommendations to senior executives and the K9 Unit, Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW). The role also contributes to the procurement of associated canine related products and services in accordance with current departmental policies and practices and by exploring alternate sources. Additional duties will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, business systems, policies, and the skills relating to animal husbandry are developed and maintained.

  • Monitor and supervise the welfare of all canines and staff working within your unit.

  • Oversee the current policies and procedures that are considered best practice within the industry and ensure CSNSW make any required changes.

Ideal candidate

  • Proven skill and experience in working with canines of various breeds.

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and standards in relation to animal welfare and husbandry.

  • Flexibility and proactive responsiveness to change direction and priorities, when required.

  • The desire to work in a demanding, dynamic and fast paced environment.
