Full-time - Fixed-term position
About the role:
We are currently seeking a full time Kinship Placement Support Worker to join our team in Emerald. Our Kinship Placement Support Workers support and monitor approved Kinship Carers and are responsible for completing the renewal of kinship carer approvals, ensuring that all licensing requirements and standards of care are met and may be required to conduct initial carer assessments.
What will a typical day look like?
- Engage with Kinship Carers to support children in all aspects of life both at home and in the wider community.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to establish and maintain sound working relationships.
- Identify carer training and developmental needs and/or assist with carer training and development to ensure the needs of children are met.
- Use observational and evaluation skills to contribute to the assessment of a child, young person and carers needs.
- Provide on call services through a roster with other staff.
- Complete carer inductions, conduct carer needs analysis and determine appropriate support mechanisms to ensure carer and placement stability.
- Ensure all relevant information relating to placement is gathered.
- Engender confidence in Kinship Carers to understand the child’s therapeutic needs and support them with growth and development.
- Support the team in the development and implementation of activities and events for children and carers.
- Complete the renewal of carer approvals, ensuring that all licensing requirements and standards are met.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Full COVID-19 Vaccination
- A bachelor’s degree in social or behavioural sciences, social work, or psychology.
- Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
- Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
