$41p/h + superannuation + salary sacrifice

About the role:

We are currently seeking a part-time Placement Support Worker to join our Foster Care team in Emerald. Our Placement Support Worker will find prompt and appropriate placement for children requiring care once referred by Child Safety Services with approved and suitable carers. They will also monitor approved carers and the placement of children and ensure all renewals, licensing and standards of care are met.

What will a typical day look like?

• Engage with carers to support children in all aspects of life, at home and in the wider community.
• Use observational and evaluation skills to contribute to the assessment of children and carers needs.
• Work collaboratively with Child Safety Services, community agencies and elders to establish and maintain sound working relationships.
• Provide on call services through a scheduled roster.
• Identify carer training and developmental needs to ensure the needs of the children are met.
• Perform all duties to a high standard reflecting policy, procedure, privacy, confidentiality, and practice standards.
• Perform carer inductions and conduct carer needs analysis to determine appropriate support mechanisms and ensure placement suitability.
• Support carers to understand the child/children’s therapeutic needs and support them to grow and develop.
• Support the team in the development and implementation of activities and events for children and carers.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Full COVID-19 Vaccination
• Certificate IV in Community Services (Child Protection) with significant experience in a similar field.
• Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
• Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
