The Program
Offering roles across two of our Adventure Pathways locations, Mylor & Strathalbyn this role will provide diversity to experience two thriving sites.
The Kitchen Assistant plays a key role in achieving Baptist Care SA, Adventure Pathways purpose of helping people to connect with themselves, others, God and the natural world through outdoor experiences.
The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for providing assistance in the preparation and serving of food and cleaning of the Mylor and Wirraway Campsite Kitchen under the direction of the Hospitality Coordinator and/or Cook/s.
The role requires an industrious person, passionate about food and hospitality, who possesses attention to detail and understands the importance of delivering excellent results for guests. At its core, this position exists to help ensure the Mylor and Wirraway Adventure Camp dining experience is consistently a highlight for guests.
About the Role – Casual Positions Available
Baptist Care SA Adventure Pathways have exciting opportunities for experienced Kitchen Assistants to join our team. This is your chance to contribute to enabling children and young people to have some of the best experiences of their lives.
It takes a small army of enthusiastic, caring and capable people to ensure our guests have the BEST CAMP EVER! And you can be part of it!
Your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Assist with the preparation of all meals as directed by the Hospitality Coordinator and/or Cooks
- Complying with the correct storage of stock in pantries, cold rooms, freezers
- Assist with the serving of meals to clients
- Assist with clean up after meals including filling in checklists for end of day, end of camp and weekly cleaning

You will also have the following skills and experience:
- Certificate I in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) or equivalent
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills, including email
- High levels of attention to detail and customer service
- Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively to a schedule with energy and flexibility
Specific Requirements:
Baptist Care SA is committed to the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable people and as such applicants will be considered in accordance with our safety practices and suitability.
You will be required to have, or be willing to obtain:
- Full unrestricted South Australia Driver’s License
- Training – Child Safe Environments
- A current and valid DHS: Child-Related Employment Screening/ WWCC
- National Police Clearance
- Training – Apply First Aid (min HLTAID012)
- Ability to work outside standard office hours
