Handpicked® Wines is not your average winery. We are dynamic and family owned, crafting top quality wines that offer a true sense of place, a place we are keen to share with Melbourne! The Mornington Peninsula is home to our winery and flagship vineyard Capella, but winemaking spreads to our fully-owned and organically-farmed vineyards across the country, from Barossa Valley to Tasmania.
Our business is growing and we have a new position available for a Kitchen Attendant to join our team at our Urban Cellar Door in Melbourne.
Much like our wines, this role is not your traditional hospitality role. It involves looking after our guests and sharing a premium fine wine cellar door experience with them. You will be cooking and preparing for tastings, suggesting cheese and charcuterie matches, and imparting your passion and knowledge for all things fine wine and food.
Role responsibilities and duties:
- Assisting the Chef in preparing, cooking and presenting all the established menu items.
- Assisting the Chef to create new dishes for the seasonal menu and preparing all the specialty items.
- Monitor food quality and quantity as it relates to portion control.
- Assisting with food preparation or assembly and food storage as required.
- Comply with all of the established operational policies & procedures.
- Cleaning and maintaining cooking utensils, dishes, cutlery and other equipment.
- Perform general cleaning to maintain a safe and hygienic work environment in line with food hygiene and occupational health and safety measures and guidelines (OH&S).
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Deli Chef.
- Maintain a harmonious relationship with other members of the service team and be willing to support those on the floor during peak times or when understaffed.
Ideally you will have:
- Formal training in Culinary Arts or equivalent is preferred but not required if your experience is extensive.
- Must have at least 1 years culinary experience in a similar role
- A passion for food and wine and prepared to gain further knowledge in this area.
- A food handlers certificate would be highly regarded
- A valid RSA would be highly regarded
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings (not that late) and some weekends.
We have a great working environment with a supportive, inclusive, and inspirational team, competitive remuneration with wine and spirits discounts. Training with our sommeliers, chefs and winemakers is provided, and there are opportunities to grow personally and professionally within the group. If this sounds like something you would be interested in then we’d love to hear from you.
