The Searoad Ferries group of companies employs more than 200 people and moves around one million customers each year, connecting people and places through excellent experiences that traverse the tourism, hospitality, passenger transport and maritime industries.

Searoad Ferries’ Hospitality Services compliment the ferry service and operate out of the Queenscliff Ferry Terminal where state of-the-art facilities provide casual dining, restaurant experiences, passenger lounges, bars, and function spaces. Food and beverage offerings cater for breakfast, lunch, grab-and-go food options, conferences, and private functions. 

Chefs are a key member of our hospitality back of house team that also provides catering for our maritime crew, in-house events, on board kiosks, and external organisations.

The opportunity 

We’re looking for passionate and qualified Chefs and Kitchen Attendants who can join our superstar team helping us deliver dishes which are inspired by the coastline and feature incredible local produce from both the Mornington & Bellarine Peninsula's. 

Led by our Executive and Head Chef you will work amongst a collaborative and supportive team who will help you hone your skill sets and achieve that work-life balance that hospitality staff only dream of with no split shifts or late nights.

Offering casual hours with an immediate start the right candidates will also be offered the opportunity to grow with us into part-time or full-time positions. 

Chefs will enjoy consistent variety from breakfast to lunch service and catering prepping in between:

• Prepare the full breakfast menu in accordance with costed recipes and to customers individual preferences
• Skillfully & meticulously assemble sandwiches/wraps being mindful of presentation and following costed recipes 
• Maintain a clean and organised workspace, following sanitation standards and food safety guidelines
• Monitor and control inventory levels for breakfast and catering ingredients
• Be confident to simultaneously manage breakfast and lunch service and catering orders  
• Show flexibility to adapt to changing demands and prioritise tasks efficiently to meet service requirements
• Delivering consistent dishes that are crafted to perfection and exceed our customers’ expectations
• Assisting with the development of kitchen processes and procedures 
• Be coached and mentored by passionate & highly regarded colleagues 

Kitchen Attendants will follow the direction of the greater kitchen team: 

• Working as part of the team by supporting colleagues during peak service times and events 
• Being trained in the use of food preparation equipment 
• Aiding in the preparation of daily menu and catering items 
• Assist in the restocking of kitchen supplies to maintain efficient operations
• Ensuring kitchen, loading, stock & waste areas are maintained in a clean, tidy, and hygienic manner in line with health regulations
• Help the broader kitchen team as required with ad-hoc duties

Chefs - if you hold a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, we’re ready to meet you and offer you an experience like no other by the beach.
