ABOUT THE ROLE:
Pambula Beach Flexible Learning Centre are seeking a Kitchen Hand / Cook to join the team to efficiently coordinate the running of the kitchen in order to provide healthy meals to the young people and support them with developing knowledge and skills to live independently.
This position is Continuing, Part Time during Term Time (26.5 hours per week).
The Kitchen Hand / Cook's duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and serve breakfast, morning tea and lunch to the school community of 40 people.
- Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen through time management and strong organisational skills.
- Maintain the kitchen through hygienic practices.
- Assist young people to participate with food preparation.
- Assist staff with the preparation of food and other requirements for Outdoor Education.
- Provision of hospitality/meals for special events.
- Awareness and management of Young People with food allergies or dietary requirements.
- Ensure the purchasing/ordering of ingredients and stock is in line with allocated budget.
- Keep accurate records and receipts of purchases to assist in the schools financial reporting.

KEY ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
- Hold a Food Handler Certificate and Food Safety Supervisors Certificate (or be willing to obtain in the first month of employment.
- Certificate level qualifications in the hospitality industry (Chef or Cook desirable).
- Previous experience in meal planning and catering for large groups.
- Current and positive NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to follow direction as well as work independently and take initiative.
