The State Cinema is a Hobart institution that has entertained generations of Tasmanians for over 100 years, playing a major role in the social and cultural life of the Hobart community. With eleven screens plus a Rooftop Cinema, there is always a wide range of local and international films on offer. A large Café and Bar serves light meals along with a beautiful Bookstore with a hand-picked selection of stationery, books and gifts.
The Kitchen Manager will oversee operations, stock levels, ordering, training and general day to day operations.
As the Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for managing the kitchen operation whilst motivating the team to deliver high-quality food and dining experience serving traditional Australian cuisine while putting your own signature style to it
Skills & Experience
Demonstrated experience in leading a kitchen team effectively, preferably in a similar role.
Enthusiasm for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences that exceed customer expectations.
Proficient in inventory management, maintaining optimal stock levels, and sourcing quality ingredients while adhering to budget constraints.
Proven ability to create menus that reflect seasonal availability, balance nutrition, and showcase creativity while considering dietary preferences and restrictions.
Skilled in managing and motivating kitchen staff independently, fostering a positive work environment, and providing guidance and support for professional development.
Deep understanding of food safety protocols and regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the demands of the hospitality industry.
Clear and effective communication abilities, both verbal and written, with the capacity to interact professionally with team members, suppliers, and customers.
Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor kitchen staff, while fostering a collaborative and cohesive team environment.
