About us:

At our Camp Hill centre we have an amazing outdoor area overlooking the city where our staff enjoy for lunch everyday. We have fully stocked cupboards of food in our staff room, so that you are always provided for. At Camp Hill we always aim to have a lot of fun with a great and supportive culture the staff and management team have built! There is a bus stop conveniently located within walking distance of the centre. 

The position:

We are looking for a Kitchenhand to join the team at Avenues ELC. As part of the team, you will feel appreciated, valued and enjoy a truly supportive and fun work environment.

This role requires you to work up to 37.5 hours per week. 

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assisting the Chef within the kitchen to prepare high quality meals, manage children’s allergy requirements and be able to cover when the Chef is away.
• Preparing all meals fresh daily (morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea)
• Implementing high level of food safety standards at all times, while having a strong sense of children's nutritional and dietary requirements
• Meal plating and service
• Safe food handling for allergic/anaphylactic children
• Kitchen cleaning and dish washing

About You

• Current Working with Children Check
• Food Handler's Certificate - be willing to obtain one
• Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment
• Strong understanding of the importance of family communications.
• Experience in Commercial Cookery is a must
• Experience in bulk cooking
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
• Must be able to multitask throughout the day
