About usINFANT, CHILD & YOUTH AREA MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING SERVICE (ICYAMHWS)Alfred ICYAMHWS is one component of the Department of Mental & Addiction Health at Alfred Health. We are a community-based service providing comprehensive assessment, treatment and case management to infants, children, adolescents and young people up to the age of 25 years of age presenting with behavioural, emotional, psychiatric or developmental difficulties.ICYAMHWS provides clinical services in partnership with a wide range of service providers to achieve the best possible outcomes. Alfred ICYAMHWS is committed to active participation by families and young people in evaluating and improving our services.
What you'll be doingIn this role, you will be supported with cultural supervision and cultural supportIt is envisaged that you will maintain close liaison with the other Statewide ICYMHS KMHLO roles, to share learnings and provide support.You will also build on existing designated Aboriginal roles within Alfred Health, including Aboriginal
Mental Health Traineeships and Aboriginal Lived Experience Peer Workers within the
Mental Health & Wellbeing Program, and Alfred Health's Aboriginal Hospital
Liaison Officer (AHLO) Team.
What we need from you- Qualifications in Aboriginal Studies, Mental Health, Community Work, Youth Work, Welfare Work, Social Work or Psychology are relevant and desirable. If the successful applicant does not hold one of the qualifications or similar listed above, they will be supported to enrol and commence a relevant course of study within 6 months of commencement of the position.
- Desirable: Experience working with:
- Aboriginal communities in the delivery of social and emotional wellbeing programs or Mental Health services or
- Aboriginal health programs or
- Aboriginal community services
- Full Covid-19 and 2024 Influenza vaccinations
- Current Victorian Driver's License
- Current Working with Children Check and be willing to undergo a Background Check
