L7 - Regulatory Services Policy Officer

Randstad Darwin is seeking a highly motivated and skilled level policy officer to join a dynamic team within a local Government Department
Role: Level 7 Regulatory Services Policy Officer Salary: $62.00 p/hour
Casual Contract with potential for permanent position
Full time hours Monday to Friday Darwin based role
Key Responsibilities : As a Regulatory Services Policy Officer your key duties will be

• Develop, implement and promote organisations Animal Management policy framework in consultation with Regulatory Services Manager, through developing partnerships within the sector.
• Draft policy and associated documents within the relevant legislative and administrative framework, to support changes to the Animal Management By-Laws.
• Collect relevant data and advise the Regulatory Services Manager of issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Create and review animal management and other by-law information for organisations website and information pamphlets in consultation with the Regulatory Services Manager, Regulatory Services Operations Lead and organisations communications team.
• Prepare reports to Management, the Executive Leadership Team, and other stakeholders as required.

The ideal candidate must possess:

• A proven background in policy research, strategic thinking and analytical skills and experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of government policy, preferably in a related field.
• Relevant qualification or currently undertaking qualification in law, public policy, education, conservation or other related fields and disciplines.
• Proven program and project management experience including budget management.
• Ability to interpret, adhere to and regulate relevant Northern Territory Government and local government legislation and policies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide cross section of people and manage business correspondence.
• Proficiency in the use of office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
