AddressA rare opportunity exists for a Laboratory Assistant to join a highly supportive Science faculty that is committed to innovative and high-quality teaching.
This role is Temporary Part Time working 4 days a week commencing in Term 3 2024.
The Role
- Effectively organise and maintain Prep room equipment and chemical register ensuring safe monitoring, labelling, storage, use and disposal of all chemicals and equipment.
- Prepare and appropriately clear experiments and practical examinations according to orders placed by Science teachers.
- Ability to support staff in all Science areas in a range of activities including excursions and practical experiments and assessment tasks.
- Capacity to write risk assessments.
- Administration support as appropriate, ordering supplies and billing.
- Qualifications in Science or Applied Science, knowledge of Chemistry is essential.
- Experience working in a school laboratory and using scientific equipment is essential.
- Understanding WHS procedures, including consultation with other faculties and maintenance on correct procedures for chemical use.
- Outstanding ICT, planning and organising skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently, be self-motivated and take initiative.
