An opportunity currently exists for a Cost Accountant based at our new head office in Macquarie Park on a permanent full-time basis. This position will provide support to the Finance Manager Operations on an ad hoc basis and assist the Finance Operations Baking team with new product costing and tendering and day to day accounting and reporting for one of our baking sites.
Key accountabilities include:
Product Costing:
- Preparation of product costings in a timely manner.
- Assist with pricing reviews by providing accurate, timely information in costings to ensure margin maximisation.
- Partnering with manufacturing, planning and procurement teams to gain alignment on costing assumptions.
- Provide insight into costing outcomes relating to commodity/RM cost movements and key drivers.
- Participate in continual improvement of costing process; reporting and accuracy.
- Setting up summary templates to take sales/project team through costings.
Site Accounting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with company policy and prescribed accounting policies and standards.
- Produce accurate financial and operational reports, e.g. wastage, operating cost analysis and cost driver insights.
- Provide variance analysis and commentary.
- Assist with pricing reviews by providing accurate, timely information to ensure margin maximisation.
- Support site ops team with financial motivations for capex requests.
- Process Month End journals and accruals within required deadlines.
- Completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations within required deadlines.
- Ensure Inventory processes are followed and accounted for in accordance with company policies & procedures.
- Partner with operations team to develop and continually improve financial systems and controls for the site.
- Preparation of site budgets and forecasts.
The successful applicant will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in finance / accounting.
- CPA / CA
- At least 2-3 years finance experience gained in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise and execute multiple competing tasks.
- Strong excel proficiency.
- Dynamics D365 experience preferable but not essential.
- An analytical mind and able to communicate insights effectively.
- Results and continuous improvement oriented.
- Enthusiasm for automation and use of systems to improve efficiencies and drive business performance.
- Clear and strong communication skills both written and verbal.
