Your Opportunity
We're looking for a passionate Laboratory Manager to join our high performing Laboratory team on a Permanent Full-time basis (38 hours per week) roster from Monday to Friday.
The suitable candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, including technician scheduling, resource allocation and maintaining the daily workflow within the Laboratory.
- Audit the daily workflow to ensure high quality standards are being met.
- Oversee the Laboratory budget including equipment, supplies, staff wages etc. and collaborate with the Operations Manager on annual budget planning.
- Address staffing gaps and performance issues, escalating to Human Resources when necessary.
- Conduct periodic reviews for staff and identify training needs and support training plans for staff development.
- Ensure a high standard of safety across the department and immediately address areas of concern.
- Raise any ongoing safety concerns with the Operations Manager and Human Resources Manager.
- Maintain and optimise regular communication with all direct reports, indirect reports and other relevant parties through channels such as Lab Support email and Toolbox talks.
- Manage resources effectively to facilitate seamless production and review of all department processes to ensure continuous improvement and maximized efficiencies in departments.
- Oversees the introduction of new processes from the identification of business needs, through to the timely introduction and formal acceptance of the change by all staff.
- In conjunction with QA and relevant subject matter experts, write and review SOPs for the Laboratory.
- Contribute to the success of Operational strategies through identification, development, implementation and completion of department projects and goals.
- Collaborate with Procurement Team to prevent stock shortages.
- Oversee the installation of new equipment and repair of damaged / broken equipment.
- Responsible for the general day-to-day functionality and maintenance of the laboratory facility and any program/ software/ IT systems within departments, taking immediate and appropriate actions where required or notifying relevant departments of required actions.
- Oversee the monthly clean schedule and ensure the Laboratory is set up as to not delay the cleaning process.
What you will bring to our Family
- A passionate to help animals is a must.
- Tertiary qualification and relevant practical experience in a similar role.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience managing a large team.
- Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining Laboratory SOP’s.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-tasks and delegate where required.
- Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates ability to follow SOP’s and how to solve issues if they arise.
- Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities.
- Experience in compounding is considered advantageous, but not essential as training is provided.
