4Farmers is a manufacturer and distributor of proprietary and generic agrichemicals. Our business has grown from very modest beginnings to become an influential player in the Australian agrichemical sector. We now have an opportunity for a Technical Manager with chemistry qualifications to take control of in-house product research and development, and quality assurance services.
Working closely with the Directors, Senior Management and the Production team, your responsibilities will include –
- Herbicide, fungicide and pesticide quality management
- Development of new formulations in conjunction with ongoing R&D programmes
- Prepare chemistry registration packages for APVMA and compile technical reports where required
- Review technical reports relevant to current and future work
- Review current chemistry applications for updates in technology and methodology
- Develop, validate and maintain analytical methods
- Develop, prepare, analyse and evaluate lab-scale batches of new formulations
- Maintain and evaluate SOPs and other required documents for the laboratory
- Prepare samples for GCMS, GC and HPLC analysis
- Issue and approve production batch control sheets
- Maintain sample request register
- Manage laboratory requirements and consumables
- Develop systems for improving laboratory organization and cleanliness
- Investigate external requests, customer enquiries and complaints, and manage the customer complaints register
- Support the Production team
- Ad hoc tasks as directed from time to time
To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience –
- A Bachelor degree in chemistry, chemical science or other relevant discipline
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems
- Experience in wet chemistry
- Experience in gas chromatography and HPLC analysis
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments
- Strong background in chemical R&D
- Good technical writing skills
- Efficient in following the QA/QC procedures and CIPAC methods
- Skilled in preparation of chemistry packages for APVMA
- Excellent time management and problem solving skills, coupled with a hard-working and positive attitude
- Ongoing professional development and a focus on staying abreast of industry developments and innovation
- Be a team player with experience in supervising laboratory staff
- Previous experience in the agrochemical industry is an advantage
