We are on the lookout for an experienced Laboratory Managerto oversee our NATA accredited CMT Laboratory team in Toowoomba. You will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight, scheduling, safety and resource management of the Laboratory Technician team.

RMA Soils + Geotechnical have been operating primarily in and around the Toowoomba region with growing a presence in the Bundaberg & Brisbane regions for the last 10 years. We provide Geotechnical Engineering & Construction Materials Testing Services across the land development, commercial & both local and state government sectors. With repeat business from great clients, a solid pipeline of work and endless new opportunities, we are growing!
The role
Reporting to the Managing Director, your primary focus will be to lead the Laboratory team and carry out hands on testing work on some of the biggest land development projects in Toowoomba and surrounds with the opportunity to travel regionally to supervise annex facilities / setup additional base lab facilities in the future.
You will become the face of our laboratory team and champion our core values, instilling these values in our new team members and keeping them alive in our current members.
You will:
- Supervise, mentor and train a team of technical officers across the main lab and annex facilities
- Oversee adherence of the Quality Management System
- Assist with preparing and issuing fee proposals
- Proactively manage client relations and expectations
- Project manage assigned projects and ensure accurate testing
- Always follow and champion workplace health and safety, quality assurance and NATA requirements
- Champion the RMA culture internally and externally
In order to be successful in this role you will:
- Be an experienced senior CMT technician looking to take the next step in their career, or a seasoned Laboratory Manager looking to secure a management position in a growing business
- Have a strong understanding of AS1289, AS1012 and QTMR test methods
- Possess strong leadership experience and/or aspirations
- Hold a minimum Certificate 4 in Laboratory techniques (Diploma level preferred)
- Hold a current QLD Nuclear Density Gauge License
- Be able to uphold safety standards and company policy
- Hold a current, unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
- Hold a Construction Safety ‘white card’
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment
