About your role
As a Laboratory Technician within our Technical Services Department your main accountabilities will be the collection of process and shipment samples and the accurate and timely analysis of these samples to meet QAL’s safety, environmental, quality and production objectives. Reporting directly to the Supervisor - Laboratory, you will contribute to our Safe, Stable and Sustainable vision by:
- Driving and promoting a strong safety culture in line with QAL values.
- Ensuring all work is performed safely in accordance with site health, environmental and community policies, systems and procedures.
- Sampling of process streams and collection of samples from operating areas of the refinery and the wharf.
- Completion of sampling & analysis safely, accurately and on a timely basis and reporting to customers
- Ability to work on rotating shifts.
- Monitoring results and liaising with customers where samples and results are not within usual range
- Contributing to Laboratory improvement projects.
What you will bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you should have:
- Demonstrated commitment to your safety and the safety of your team.
- Operational or laboratory experience, particularly with regards to sample collection. Experience using analytical instrumentation would be advantageous.
- Competence in the use of computers.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- A positive and motivated attitude with the skills to communicate effectively.
- The ability to work well within a team but have the confidence and initiative to work with minimal supervision.
- C Class Drivers Licence.
- A current Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or ability to obtain upon commencement.
