The Opportunity 

We currently have an opportunity for either a Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Engineer to join our established Australian Operations. Based in Fugro’s Balcatta lab you will working with a small team and reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager. Your initial duties and responsibilities will include: 

  • Carry out general tasks in support of laboratory operations 

  • Prepare samples for and carry out laboratory testing 

  • Enter data into the laboratory information system or processing database 

  • Assist in the analysis of testing data  

  • Assist in compiling of factual certificates and reports 

  • Participate in development of new processes and procedures as assigned 

  • Compliance with QHSSE policies, standards and procedures. 

About You 

As a Laboratory Technician, you will have some experience in a laboratory and carrying out test procedures and completing testing in a safe and efficient manner.  

As a Laboratory Engineer, you will have experience in a laboratory carrying out test procedures, analysis, reporting, as well as calibrating and maintaining test equipment.  

We are looking for positive, team players who can: 

  • Demonstrated experience or willingness to learn new skills  

  • Sound understanding of laboratory testing standards preferably in geotechnical or construction materials testing  

  • Strong communication skills, ability to interface with project stakeholders 

  • Diploma/Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques/engineering related degree or equivalent would be desirable 

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical 

Extra experience we value: 

 Hands on experience with advanced testing equipment; triaxial, simple shear, direct shear and resonate column
