The company is a leading provider of environmental health and safety solutions. Good people who care for their staff. They are currently seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician / Signatory to join their team in their Asbestos Laboratory.
Role Overview:
You will be based at our NATA accredited Laboratory in Sydney's Hills District and will be conducting routine analysis work for asbestos in Bulk, Soil and Air as well as assisting in maintaining the laboratory quality systems.
This position is designed to lead to career development and becoming the Laboratory Manager with a small team to manage for the right candidate.
Here's a big list of things you'll be doing…
- Manage day-to-day laboratory operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Routine preparation of samples for analysis
- Performing asbestos identification on a range of materials including building materials and soil
- If not already work to become a signatory for all asbestos analysis work
- Participating in external and internal proficiency testing
- Carrying out scheduled instrument calibration and maintenance in accordance with documented procedures
- Understanding and upholding general laboratory QA/QC criteria and NATA accreditation requirements as part of ISO17025
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Stock management, including ordering supplies and coordinating with external vendors.
- Coordinate testing activities with external laboratories as necessary.
- Other testing, duties and responsibilities as directed by the laboratory management team
- Maintaining Signatory status
Here's a list of some things you'll need…
- Experience in Asbestos analysis using PLM/Dispersion staining technique (essential)
- Experience in Asbestos analysis using PCM (essential)
- Appropriate tertiary qualification desirable, TAFE certificates (as a minimum)
- Previous experience in a laboratory management role is welcomed but not essential
- Strong knowledge of asbestos regulations, testing methodologies, and safety protocols.
- A self-motivated individual with attention to detail and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software for data analysis and reporting.
