About the role:
PERSOLKELLY is looking to hire Lab technicians for its esteemed client in the field of nuclear science and technology. The client is known to provide practical solutions and innovative technology in ways that deliver financial and environmental benefits to the mining and mineral processing industries.
Primary Objective
The primary objective of the Laboratory technician is to provide comprehensive technical support to a number of managers and project leaders undertaking commercial and research work for industry clients on the development of processes for the recovery of rare earth, lithium, uranium, and many other elements. Some ores contain radioactivity and other trace contaminants.
Position Environment
The Laboratory technician reports to several project/task leaders and is responsible for the setting up and operation of equipment, collecting, and compiling data, and planning and carrying out experiments under professional supervision.
The position requires a person who is equally comfortable working independently or in a team, someone who is self-motivated and committed to getting the job done within tight deadlines. The position requires an organized and meticulous approach to work.
Key Accountabilities
The key accountabilities for this position include:
- Contribute to, and develop, experimental programs and designs to satisfy the task/project objectives
- Design equipment and apparatus for experiments to meet project requirements
- Conduct experimental work and ensure that the data obtained is reproducible, accurate, appropriately recorded, and reported in a report-ready format
- Work collaboratively to ensure laboratories are functioning effectively through the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
- Contribute to research output by working as part of project research teams to complete project experiments within time, and scope.
- Ensure work undertaken follows set procedures so that data collected for research can be validated.
- Independently plan workload to meet project outcomes and deliver on time to meet constantly changing client requirements.
- Develop standard operating procedures for equipment usage and experimental practice.
- Ensure the laboratory meets quality assurance and continual review practices for improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Certificate, diploma in chemistry or related field
- Extensive experience working in a chemical or metallurgical laboratory
- Work safely with chemicals and radioactive materials
- Hold a current driving license
- Work cooperatively with others as part of a team
- Conduct routine and non-routine experiments under minimal supervision
- Plan experiments, collect and present data
- Share information willingly with others in the workgroup
- Basic computer skills
- Follow policy, procedures & guidelines.
- Demonstrate personal qualities that will add value to the workgroup.
