As a landscaper you will be responsible for maintaining green spaces and assisting us with creating newly landscaped gardens and spaces. Your tasks will involve activities such as planting, laying turf, leveling soil and general assistance with outdoor landscaping requirements. You will also handle irrigation installation and application of plant protection products.
Working on gardens and projects all across Melbourne, our projects mainly service builders, developers and private clients, predominantly involving work on private gardens, or by businesses for work on park areas or educational grounds. This role will be physically demanding, with tasks varying based on the landscape and plan requirements.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Working on landscaping projects
- Maintaining customers’ gardens and one off garden tidies
- Leaf/rubbish clearing
- Operating a chipper, mower, strimmer, stump grinder, pressure washer, digger, dumper and other machinery.
- Maintaining tools and machinery.
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and conscientious manner.
- Preparing and maintaining seedbeds and growing sites
- Propagating and planting trees, bushes, hedges, flowers and bulbs
- Preparing lawn areas by spreading top soil and planting grass, and by laying instant turf.
- Pruning trees and hedges, and installing plant support and protection devices
- Reviewing plans and drawings, selecting materials and plants, and supporting with scheduling landscape construction.
- Setting out and installing hardscape and softscape structures.
- Constructing gravel and paved areas, walls, fences, pergolas, ponds, barbecues and garden furniture.
- Lopping limbs off trees and shaping branches using chain and handsaws.
Requirements and Skills
A Certificate III in Landscape Construction or at least 2 years of work experience in a similar role.
