About the role
A fantastic opportunity has opened for a Lead or Principal Civil Engineer to join Stantec's - Energy & Resources team. Working out of our newly refurbished Perth offices, you will form an integral part of our growing Engineering Leadership Team. As a Lead Engineer or Principal Civil Engineer, you will be reporting directly to the ‘Group Leader – Design & Engineering’ and have the following key responsibilities;
- To set the highest standard of technical and professional capability within Stantec as a focal point for all Engineers and Designers within the Mining Discipline
- Provide technical guidance across all mining projects within Stantec
- Be aware of the project deliverables, budget and scheduled requirements
- Undertake the project Design Engineering tasks and document the design in engineering deliverables in accordance with the project requirements
- Mentor engineers and provide leadership to the civil team
- Performance manage staff in your team
- Be approachable, kind and respectful, and seek to work with other business units and disciplines to bring together a cohesive work environment for the successful delivery of projects, and creation of an inclusive and diverse work culture
- Check and review designs and drawingsUndertake the peer reviewer role as required
- Provide assistance to the Engineering Manager and Project Manager to develop budgets for proposals
- Develop long term relationships with key stakeholders in client’s teams
- Communicate the engineering requirements to the discipline Designers and other discipline Engineers
- Undertake remote site visits as required
- Provides Safety In Design leadership in the discipline team continuously improving our culture of SID; and
- Self-review and self-check design.

Successful candidates will need to possess:
- 10 years’ experience as a Civil Design Engineer, ideally within a resources industry environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil engineering or equivalent. Eligible for CPEng
- Proficient use of related packages including but not limited to: MS Office Suite; and
- Desirable use of related drainage design packages including but not limited to: HY-8, XPSWMM, DRAINS, TuFlow.
