They are expanding their Data Science capabilities to grow a world-class data science and advanced analytics business and to unlock the power of data to re-imagine retail.The RoleWorking in a close knit team and reporting to a passionate Head of Data Science, you will work in a multi-disciplinary environment with specialists in data science, machine learning, software and data engineering.A key aspect of this role is working with senior stakeholders across the business and lead delivery of data science projects based on the strategic road map on time and in budget. In a strategic lead role, you will also drive leadership and mentoring of team members and focus on solving the most complex problems for both customers and the wider team.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation and testing of data products and work closely with key stakeholders to understand business questions and execute data science projects that deliver practical solutions.
- You will run end-to-end data science solutions from defining the problem to POCs to deployment methodology and iterations.
- Develop and maintain state of the art advanced statistical and machine learning models (GLM, Random Forests, GBM, xGBoost, DGN, etc) to drive project outcomes.
- Document business requirements for the scoping design and implementation of all models.
- Providing thought leadership in both using data to solve business problems and in arriving at innovative statistical solutions.
- Engage with business partners and work on new business cases to expand the use of modelling for data driven decision making across the board.
- 5-7+ years' years of experience applying ML techniques to solve real-world business problems within a commercial setting.
- Tertiary education in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or Mathematics disciplines will be a big plus.
- Experience of using advanced analytics, data mining, statistical methods and machine-learning techniques (GLM, Random Forests, GBM, xGBoost, DGN, etc) to drive project outcomes.
- Exposure to Big Data platforms, such as Hadoop and Spark.
- Advanced working knowledge of analytical programming using ML, Python and SQL along with exposure to Azure and/or GCP is essential!
- Experience in leading and mentoring teams of Data Scientists.
- Track record of building effective relationships internally and externally with stakeholders, intermediaries and service providers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact and influence.
