The projects span Concept, FEED, and Detail Design phases, collaborating with major energy providers across Australia.
Role Details:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their Brisbane team, focusing on the electrical aspects of gas processing and compression facility projects. This role involves collaborating with their Canadian office to develop and establish an Electrical team that will support local Australian projects.
Core Responsibilities:
- Focus on preparing key electrical documentation, including area classifications, drawings, reports, single line diagrams, electrical load and equipment lists, and reports related to electrical system studies (e.g., short circuit calculations, time-current coordination, load flow, motor starting, and harmonic analysis using SKM and ETAP software).
- Contribute electrical input to the detailed scope of work, Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), and Project Execution Plan (PEP).
- Develop electrical designs for projects or proposals.
- Establish detailed engineering design criteria.
- Evaluate vendor or subcontractor designs for specific equipment to ensure suitability and code compliance.
- Review the work of others to maintain consistency and design integrity throughout the project.
- Verify and check all discipline deliverables.
- Create electrical Material Takeoffs (MTOs).
- Prepare engineering man-hour estimates and contribute to project schedules.
- Coordinate with the Electrical team across Brisbane, Canadian, and Indian offices to ensure work is executed according to design criteria, schedule, and budget.
- Develop and assess electrical equipment and construction specifications.
- Provide engineering support for procurement activities, including MRQ/MRP development, technical bid evaluation, and vendor drawing approvals.
- Develop Construction Work Packages (CWP), including project descriptions, construction specifications, Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, and material lists.
- Offer engineering support during construction, including field engineering, inspections, and special studies.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Certification as a C.P. Eng, RPEQ.
- At least 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with an EPCM background.
- Experience with oil and gas facility projects, including gas processing facilities, compression facilities, wellsites, and pipelines.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards, such as AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 60079, EI 15 (IP-15), API 505, IECEx 05, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in high, medium, and low voltage power distribution and control systems design.
- Expertise in protective relaying, motor control systems, hazardous area classification assessment and reporting, electrical equipment sizing, and PLC applications.
- Familiarity with electrical safety regulations and compliance requirements in Australia.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
