About the Role:
We are searching for a dynamic and experienced Lead Hand Carpenter to join our team. If you have a knack for leadership, problem-solving, and ensuring every detail is perfect, we want to hear from you.

Leadership Skills: A Leading Hand needs to lead a team, make critical decisions, and ensure everyone is working towards the same goal.
Communication Skills: They must be able to convey information clearly and effectively to team members, sub contractors, clients, and suppliers.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Construction projects often come with unexpected challenges. A good leading hand can quickly identify problems and find effective solutions.
Attention to Detail: Overlooking small details can lead to big problems in construction. It's essential to be thorough and precise.
Adaptability: Construction projects can change rapidly due to unforeseen issues, weather conditions, or client demands. Being able to adapt to these changes is key.
Decision-Making Skills: Quick and effective decision-making is crucial, especially when under pressure.
Technical Knowledge: While not strictly a personality trait, having a solid understanding of construction methods, tools, materials, and best practices is crucial for effective supervision.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Frequent integration with Site Manager and Operations Manager
- Servicing Carpenters and apprentices and answering technical questions
- Oversee daily tasks and identifying conflicts
- Ensure milestone dates are met
- General site management
- Monitor contractor punctuality & quality
- Assure the quality of finishes
- Coordinating site deliveries
- Order additional site materials via operations
- Ensure site safety (WHS)
- Regular updates to clients via operations team
- read plans and engineering drawings
- delivery a high level of quality for all carpentry tasks
Learning Expectations:
Week 1 - Get bedded into new surroundings and get to know the pace and expectations.
Week 2 - Start getting comfortable with how we operate and using tech
Week 3 to 4 - Really starting to get an understanding of what is happening and how the site managers need to work and forecast for his tasks
Week 5 - 8 - Complete trust achieved, very little supervision required and total dominance of tasks.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Overall project/task delivery on time and budget
- Provide consistent site updates to operations staff
- Site Manager satisfaction with your task delivery
- No safety issues
- Very minimal defects leading to rework
Remuneration:
- 3 years + experience in role - $45 per hour full time
- 1-3 years experience - $40 - $45 per hour full time
