The Role
As a Lead Human Factors Specialist, you’ll collaborate with design teams, and stakeholders, including Sydney Metro, TfNSW and Sydney Trains to integrate Human Factors considerations in the design of rail systems and facilities, stations, car parks, and landscaped public spaces. You’ll identify and evaluate the Human Factors risks and issues for end user groups, including operations and maintenance staff, passengers and other general public user groups.
This position is offered on a full-time permanent basis, based in Sydney with flexible working arrangements on offer.
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Provide assurance of Human Factors integration (HFI) and deliverables at Project level in accordance with TAO's HF Integration requirements.
  • Undertake Human Factors integration into nominated projects and monitor compliance
  • Provide technical advice to nominated projects on HFI and the application of HF principles
  • Direct and conduct Human Factors analysis at Project level, including task analysis, workload analysis, and ergonomics assessments
  • Prepare HF reports, including HF assessment reports, assurance reports and post-implementation reviews
  • Capture and manage HF risks derived from Projects, HF workshops and ensuring closure of HF requirements
  • Undertake HF awareness-raising activities with internal and external Project teams and stakeholders as needed to support early and effective HFI
About You
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics or relevant discipline.
  • 2+ years demonstrable experience in the application of HF methods and knowledge in one or more of the following industries: rail, aviation, resources, energy, mining and/or resources
  • Experience in integrating human centered principles into project design advantageous based on relevant standards, e.g. AS 7070, ISO 9241, ISO 16982
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff (verbal and written)
  • Ability to identify and analyse risks, and make corrective actions
  • Ability to manage complex situations and have well developed problem solving and negotiating skills
