Full time, fixed term for 12 monthsCoordinate media activities and campaigns for University researchBase Salary $104,633 - $113,992 + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityReporting to the Media and PR Strategic Adviser (Science), the Media and PR Adviser is responsible for promoting research, reputation and teaching in the Faculty of Science and University of Sydney Nano Institute. The role includes responding to media enquiries and coordinating other media activities and outreach. You will lead content creation while managing media relationships and overseeing daily monitoring and analysis of media activity in line with strategic objectives.Your key responsibilities will be to:coordinate media activities and campaigns, ensuring alignment with broader university objectives, and leveraging internal and external channels for maximum impactoversee the handling and PRioritisation of media enquiriesassist the Media and PR Advisers to repurpose and place stories on the relevant section of the University’s website including sourcing photos and video as relevantassist with the production and editing of impactful and easy-to-understand media releases, stories and other content based on often complex research, ensuring alignment with portfolio-specific strategies, media activities and campaignsactively manage and maintain relationships with relevant journalists in Australia and internationally to promote portfolio-specific objectives.About youbachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experiencea strong ability to deal with complex ideas in science and translate them to media-accessible storiesexperience in communication across all media types, integrated Media and/or public relations campaignsdemonstrated experience pitching to the Media and obtaining coverage, with a strong understanding of how the news cycle works and how Media and its audience is changingproven stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships with Media and research academicshighly developed written and oral communication skills with experience in writing reportsrelevant IT skills in online publishing, media distribution and engaging with relevant audience.While the role will focus on Science (principally the Faculty of Science and Sydney Nano) the Media and Public Relations team at the University pitches in to assist all members in their work. From time to time, team managers might need to transfer the portfolio responsibilities of this position based on workload or business needs.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaPlease note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
