Reporting into the Chief Risk & Assurance Officer, this role holds the pivotal responsibility of providing specialised advisory on matters of Risk & Assurance on critical projects. It orchestrates these efforts across an extensive array of projects, ensuring the efficacy of the organisation's risk management framework, policies, and protocols as they relate to project activity.
With a substantial track record in Risk Management, the role necessitates proven senior expertise in advising and leading the establishment of risk and assurance frameworks for significant programs or projects, encompassing reporting and fostering a culture of risk awareness within a complex, tightly regulated organisation. Prior experience within the public sector or direct interaction with public sector agencies is preferred.
An essential aspect is proficiency in comprehending and applying ISO31000:2018 - Risk Management Standard requirements. Furthermore, the role calls for demonstrated familiarity with and hands-on application of modern risk management frameworks, methodologies, and systems. Practical exposure to crafting and executing business enhancement strategies and processes, driven by an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement, is also pivotal.
The Lead Manager, Project Risk & Assurance, collaborates closely with the leadership team to ensure the adequacy and consistent application of Project Management Policies and Frameworks across the project landscape ensuring the suitability of risk management strategies and their seamless integration into all initiatives.

Your Duties and Responsibilities- Provide strategic focus, leadership, direction and oversight of ANSTO's project portfolio risk profile ensuring alignment with ANSTO's goals and objectives, relevant government policy, legal and regulatory obligations and industry best practice.
- Oversee and evaluate the effective adoption and integration of ANSTO's risk management processes and the development of project and portfolio risk management plans for major projects across all capital portfolios of the organisation. Undertake risk assessment and assurance activities, including participation in periodic project reviews as required relating to major projects.
- Evaluate, promote and drive improvements to ANSTO's ‘risk management maturity' level as relates to major projects with a specific focus on the enablers of improved risk management processes and culture across the ANSTO project portfolio.
- Prepare analysis, reporting and advice relating to major Project Risk & assurance to the Executive team and ANSTO Risk Oversight Committee.
- Provide leadership and direction in delivery of major projects from a risk perspective, including providing advice, guidance and training to ANSTO staff involved.
