Role Summary:
The Lead Mechanical and Performance Engineer is a newly created opportunity in our Asset Optimisation team based at our Perth CBD office.
This role will engage and work with the site teams within the Thermal Generation and Synergy to develop strategies and provide recommendations to continuously improve the reliability, flexibility and Performance of our generation assets, facilitate risk assessments, optimise operations and execute projects.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Facilitate Thermal Generations asset management post Synergy decarbonisation strategy release – Optimising our portfolio to meet our decarbonisation targets and strategy
- Identify, define and execute improvement and critical strategic projects to deliver greater asset capability and better commercial performance.
- Lead the analysis of plant performance and provide recommendations for fleet optimisation and improvement to match fleet to market requirements.
- Identify long term plant health and asset integrity issues or potential issues, and develop plans and strategies with site teams to facilitate efficient achievement of required asset’s life cycle and mission.
- Lead in determining and reviewing engineering risks and support the development of strategies and plans to mitigate and manage these engineering risks.
- Develop innovative strategies to manage risk exposure and optimise asset performance.
What you’ll bring:
- Relevant tertiary engineering qualification in relevant field
- 10+ years of Engineering or operational experience in open cycle gas turbine, combined cycle gas turbine or coal fired thermal power generation plant and systems
- Computer systems and software including MS Office and Plant Information System (PIS)
- Technical knowledge of power plant equipment and process
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead effectively across multi-functional teams and interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders is crucial to the success of this role
