Along with continued investment and focus on our open pit mining, Tropicana has also recently commenced underground operations at Boston Shaker.

We are now seeking a LEADING HAND for the Tropicana services and UG maintenance division. This is a permanent role at the Tropicana Gold Mine on a 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.

Accountable to the Service/Underground Mechanical Supervisor, this role is responsible for assisting the Services/Underground Mechanical Supervisor in leading a team of scaffolders, Industrial painter, AI technician, crane drivers and fixed plant underground fitters.

The main tasks of the roles include:

• Provide leadership to scaffolders, crane drivers and UG fitters
• Manage the schedule via SAP
• Comply with work management systems
• Lead and support a team with an effective leadership style
• Liaise with other department Supervisors and Leading hands regarding maintenance works
• Assist with break down task
• Report and address any safety concerns to the Services/UG Supervisor
• Review and update SWI and Procedures
• Lead by example
• Raise work orders as required
• Review and action notifications
• Assist other departments as needed
• Communicate effectively with all relevant stakeholders
• Provide shut down leadership support
• Assist with supervision as required
• Provide technical support to the team
• Ensuring that all activities are effective through cross-functional liaison and teamwork with relevant departments

• Understanding of scaffolding, crane works and familiar with underground environment
• Minimum 3 years mining industry experience in maintenance and installations in underground hard rock mining and surface infrastructure
• Leadership experience
• Mentoring experience
• Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft office, SAP experience desirable
• Hold a current driver’s license, WA C Class
• The ability to work with noise, dust, elevated work areas, confined spaces, extremes of temperature
• Good level of fitness required and ability to pass a medical
• Good written and verbal skills
• The ability to work as part of a multi skilled workforce
• Be a self-starter with a strong and consistent work ethic
• Able to obtain a National Police Clearance
• Existing and ongoing permanent working rights in Australia (Mandatory)
