This role will be based between St George Hospital, Kogarah and The Sutherland Hospital, Caringbah.
St George Hospital is a 600-bed Tertiary Referral Hospital in Kogarah, NSW. The Lead Pharmacist, Workforce Development is a leadership and clinical role. The purpose of the role is to lead, co-ordinate and manage the framework, programs and activities associated with the defined practice area of Workforce Development, education and training for all team members of SESLHD Pharmacy Services and to actively contribute to the comprehensive clinical pharmacy service.
The role will work collaboratively at both the site/service level and across the district to maintain leadership and efficient performance of the provision of pharmacy services.
All Lead Pharmacist roles are integral members of the SESLHD pharmacy leadership team to provide strategic, clinical and operational objectives for the pharmacy service. The position will have joint responsibility with other Team Leader and Lead Pharmacist positions, to maintain leadership, management and continuity of service provision of the pharmacy service across all operational hours.
SESLHD Pharmacy Services is an extended hours service across the seven-day week. The role requires the ability to participate in a seven-day week roster that includes flexible hours, on call, afterhours, weekends and public holidays. The role may be required to work at different locations and departments within SESLHD.
Selection Criteria * Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with post registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills/experience.

  • Significant experience and a demonstrated high level of competence, expertise and skill in the provision of Workforce Development, education and training for pharmacy services.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to develop high quality written guidelines, procedures, educational, research or business materials.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, team building, influencing, conflict resolution and the building of a positive workplace culture.
  • Proven ability and commitment to effectively role model, champion and promote teamwork and demonstrated management and development of staff.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in managing a complex workload, problem solving and development and implementation of initiatives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
