About the role
We are on the hunt for an experienced and strategically minded Lead Product Owner to join our team in this permanent role. You’ll be tasked with managing the strategic development and design of the ahm proposition to continue to deliver market leading customer growth.
What will you be doing?
We want you to build deep knowledge of the opportunities to enhance the ahm proposition and will be accountable for devising the proposition roadmap, discovering and designing new propositions and seeking funding to deliver prioritised new propositions to market.
We work in an agile environment and all that stuff, but we think our people play the most significant role in ahm’s mission to make health insurance more simple, useful, and affordable for Australians. This role involves working collaboratively with a great range of our people across functional teams and squads including customer experience, digital, marketing, product, IT, contact centre, partnerships and delivery, and actively contribute to the on-going transformation of organisational and people capabilities across the ahm business.

Day to day, this role could see you:
- deciding if your day is best spent working from home or in the office – we don’t do mandated office attendance here at ahm
- creating an endorsed ahm proposition roadmap
- shaping up and prioritising ahm proposition opportunities based on a detailed understanding of customer needs and commercial opportunities
- taking some time out to restore and recharge – you might head out for a walking one on one with a team member in the sunshine, get to a lunchtime yoga class or schedule time in to get along to your littles ones school assembly.
- driving an actionable set of performance criteria and success metrics for each initiative, covering revenue, customer growth and margin
- managing the effective budgeting of product development work and its funding through the appropriate ahm and group forums
- shaping the priority of delivery teams and resources (internal squads, allocated contract resources, delivery partners) via education and collaboration to ensure timely execution on the product roadmap
- working collaboratively with functional expertise across ahm and the Group to harness their input into brilliant product output

Enough about us already, let’s talk about you…
You’re an expert level Product Owner with a strategic mindset, but aren’t afraid to roll your sleeves up when the time comes. You’ll be passionate about customer and growth and can demonstrate solid experience in project and stakeholder management. Ideally, you’ll have spent time working in the services space – think insurance, energy, finance, etc – but this is not an essential factor.
You will thrive on working in a fast paced environment and be pretty confident in your ability to keep the plates spinning. You’re intelligent and commercially minded and you know your stuff, but you’re also excited by the thought of working for a company that will challenge you to operate outside the usual corporate box – we keep it simple, but most inportantly, fun.
