The Role

The Lead Reliability Engineer is responsible for leading a team of multidisciplined engineers who provide engineering expertise and support to the maintenance and planning teams ensuring asset integrity, performance and availability is optimized through efficient and timely maintenance strategy execution and a disciplined change management focus.

It is a residential role, you will work full time at our Kemerton site (located near Bunbury in the Southwest of Western Australia) and will be required to work Monday to Friday (standard business hours).

Key Responsibilities

  • Motivate your team to work safely, and respectfully of themselves and others.

  • Identify and remove barriers to ensure business procedures and systems function as designed.
  • Understand, compartmentalise and communicate complex information to target audience requirements.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks to achieve results.
  • Initiate, manage and support the RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) program.
  • Provide performance management and relevant documentation for reporting department.
  • Ensure proposed plant changes to ensure that the appropriate level of local engineering knowledge and scoping is introduced to projects during this development and identification phase.
  • Owning and managing robust change control and document management processes for the Operation. 
  • Ensure the function (both employees and sub-contractors) complies with statutory legislation and relevant internal and external standards.
  • Set expectations, provide feedback and hold people accountable for their actions and responsibilities in meeting those expectations.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary teams to ensure that problems are identified, mitigated where possible and eliminated long term. 
  • Provide input into plans, budgets, and targets for the Maintenance department and ensure delivery against those.
  • Promote operational discipline and high performance in work execution and enhance the technical knowledge of Maintenance department team members.
  • Responsible for the Engineering approval of new designs and engineering changes relevant to sub-function
  • Primary interface for any documents to be received from a Project team when a Project is commissioned and handed over to Operations.
  • Auditing of engineering change management processes.
  • Critical Control Owner for Material Risks as and when required by the Operation.
  • Facilitates engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility the team applies:
    • Data analysis techniques that can include:
      • Statistical Process Control
      • Reliability modeling and prediction
      • FMEA
      • Fault Tree Analysis
      • Six Sigma (6σ) Methodology
      • Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)
  • Manage conflicting priorities while maintaining key stakeholder interests and relationships.

About You

  • 5+ years extensive experience in a similar supervisory role, in addition to a minimum 10 years’ experience in reliability maintenance engineering preferably in chemical plant / refinery background

Albemarle requires successful applicants to pass a pre-employment medical, and complete on-boarding verification of employment history, right to work, qualifications and police clearance.

Education / Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Post graduate Certificate or Diploma in Management is highly desirable
  • Prior people management experience is preferred.
