Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.Remote working from another location in Australia may be considered for the right candidate.Roster: Monday to FridayThis role will be responsible for leading and delivering Fortescue's approach to Sustainable Materials, specifically circular economy, and Scope 3 emissions reductions.Reporting to the Principal Sustainable Supply Chain, this role will actively contribute to Contracts and Procurement's global integration strategy and implementation of sustainability best practice in Fortescue's upstream supply chain.Key Responsibilities
  • Design and lead C&P Sustainable Materials strategy for circularity, identify and prioritise opportunities throughout the global category portfolio, including own product supply chains.
  • Develop strategy and implement plan to commence pathway to delivering Fortescue's 2030 and 2040 Scope 3 targets in C&P.
  • Collaborate with internal climate change, systems, and data analytics teams to determine framework for collecting and analysing Scope 3 emissions in Fortescue's supply chain.
  • Responsible for driving effective training program for capability building for circularity, scope 3 and evaluating Sustainable Materials.
  • Determine and develop governance requirements to integrate circularity principles and scope 3 requirements throughout source to contract, including supplier development materials, tender schedules, and contract requirements.
  • Make recommendations on innovations, technologies, material recovery pathways and systems for driving circularity principles whilst achieving practical, commercial outcomes.
  • Work closely with key categories and Sustainability to capture relevant information to support life cycle assessments for product green certification workstreams.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging international standards, legislation and best practices pertaining to circularity, Sustainable Materials and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Support delivery of Sustainable Supply Chain Global C&P Strategy, including supporting C&P teams develop category, supplier and contracting approaches.
  • Collaborate with Sustainability teams and contribute to annual reporting and take a leading role for Sustainable Supply Chains at relevant internal working groups.
  • Establish professional network and engage with external industry groups for supply chain emissions reductions and Circularity initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong background in global supply chain, procurement and/or commercial contracting, with prior experience in resources or renewable technology industries is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to develop long term strategies and apply required change management to execute a global sustainable material program.
  • Understanding of circularity principles and practical application to supply chains, any additional experience working with Life Cycle Assessments would be beneficial.
  • Proven track record for delivering effective training programs for internal and external to work towards collaborative, best practice outcomes.
  • Knowledge of existing relevant certifications and international best practice including but not limited to UN Sustainable Development Goals, OECD Guidelines, EU Plastics Regulations, GH2 Standard, and EU Circular Economy Action Plan.
  • Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, circular economy, materials management, or related fields are highly valued, but not essential.
