Lead the Charge in Maritime and Industrial Operations at NMIS! (Operations Manager Wanted)

Are you a seasoned operations professional with a passion for the marine industry?

Northern Maritime and Industrial Services (NMIS), a leading marine engineering company with a proud 40-year history, seeks an experienced and driven Operations Manager to join our dynamic team in Darwin.

NMIS is at the forefront of innovation, offering a comprehensive suite of services for rotating machinery (propulsion systems, compressor, turbine, etc..) installation, maintenance, and repair. We partner with established brands and utilise cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional results for our clients across Australia, Southeast Asia, and Pacific area.

The Opportunity:

This pivotal role provides a unique opportunity to lead and oversee all aspects of our operational activities. You'll be responsible for driving efficiency, optimising resource allocation, and ensuring on-time, high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement operational strategies and procedures to optimise efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage project lifecycles, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget control.
  • Oversee workshop operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and production deadlines.
  • Manage and motivate a team of technicians, welders, and other workshop personnel.
  • Liaise with clients to understand needs, manage expectations, and ensure successful project completion.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate operational reports and documentation.

The Requirements:

To excel in this leadership role, you'll possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a marine or industrial operations or project management role
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and motivating teams
  • Strong understanding of marine or industrial engineering principles and workshop operations
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and software tools
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and a proactive approach to risk management
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
