At Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation (‘AKKF’) our purpose is to empower young people to thrive beyond the impacts of family mental illness. We achieve this by:

The opportunity:
If you enjoy working with young people in this sector, then this role is for you. Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager and working across our full program offering, this Casual role based in Darwin is responsible for
- Facilitating and delivering face-to-face programs in Darwin is to our young people and families.
- Ensure that programs delivered remain in alignment with AKKF’s clinical practices and organisational parameters, policies, procedures, and within budget.
- Coordinate on-program resource requirements to ensure smooth and high-quality program delivery. Including but not limited to ordering, material/resource preparation, uniform coordination for volunteers, packing for program, unpacking post program, restocking as required.
- Coordinate all relevant on-program communications and briefing materials to ensure AKKF and other identified stakeholders (volunteers, young people, and families) have the required program information for effective service delivery.
- Ensure all program administration is completed accurately, is of a high quality and completed within agreed time frames.
- Ensure Work Health and Safety (including risk management) policies, procedures, and standards are met and maintained whilst on program.
- Perform the role of First Aider on program as required.
- Coordinate volunteers on programs, ensuring volunteers are aware of program requirements and are supported and have a positive experience whilst participating in programs.
About you
Essential Criteria
- Certificate III in Community Services or other associated mental health related discipline and/or demonstrated industry experience.
- Current First Aid certificate.
- Demonstrated experience working in a similar role, or experience working with and supporting large groups of young people aged between 8-18 years.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and coordinating recreational programs.
- Understanding of Work Health and Safety and risk management requirements.
- Experience in coordinating a team.
- Understanding and application of Wellness Intervention Plans.
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
- Experiences in working with CRMs or similar IT programs.
Desirable
- Experience in the Not-for-Profit sector and working with young people.
- Experience in the Mental Health sector.
- Previous experience in engaging with a volunteer team.
- Trauma Informed Practice Training.
Our programs are held off-site, in various locations across all states/territories of Australia, meeting the need where our young people are located.
As programs operate outside usual business hours, your ability to work outside usual business hours is essential to your success in this role. Our camps run from Friday to Sunday including overnight, our Activity Days and virtual offering run afternoons, evenings and weekends, during school holidays and occasionally during the day.
