Job DescriptionYour New Opportunity:Stepping into your new role as a
Leading Hand, you'll join and mentor a growing team of Remanufacturing Diesel Mechanics. Based in Kings Park NSW you'll use your skills and experience to lead and develop our current diesel technicians and help grow your team.You'll allocate jobs, develop work instructions, prepare info for quotes and repairs and not be afraid to jump on the tools when the team needs a hand. Your mechanics will rely on you as a point of escalation for any tricky problems, and you'll provide guidance and training where required. Safety is a top priority at Penske, so you'll promote adherence to all internal safety requirements to get everyone home safe.This facility specialises in the remanufacturing of large diesel engines, as the OEM for Detroit Diesel and mtu engines & Allison Transmissions in Australia, you'll be leading our technicians to remanufacture engines used in the off highway setting.
About you:- Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics with experience in large diesel engines preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years post qualification experience in the Engine or Heavy Vehicle Business.
- Experience in mtu & Detroit products would be ideal.
- Detailed practical working knowledge of the operation of appropriate machinery, tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of labour productivity & efficiency, with an understanding of labour sales/costs, gross margin, expenses and other financial ratios.
- Some experience in leadership and mentoring preferred, but we'll train the right candidate.
- Easily work independently, but just as happy working in a team.
- Not afraid to get your hands dirty and help the team when needed, flexible to pick up overtime as required.
- Have effective communication skills – you'll be talking to everyone from apprentices to customers and everyone in between.
- A positive, can-do attitude with the drive to help your team develop and succeed.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure maximum efficiency in the workshop.
