About the Role:
The Learning Enhancement team at our school identifies students with learning gaps or exceptional talents through regular assessment and careful diagnosis. These students receive targeted support or extension opportunities to address their needs. We are seeking an experienced Learning Assistant to join our Middle and Senior school Learning Enhancement Department on a fixed-term full-time basis (FTE 1.0) for one year, with an immediate start.
Responsibilities:
- Implement programs and interventions for small groups or individual students within the Middle and Senior School (Years 6-12).
- Support student outcomes by working with a diverse range of students.
- Inform relevant staff of progress or concerns about the pupils they work with.
- Implement strategies to support students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Be a visible part of teaching during each phase within the Teaching and Learning Model (TLM).
- Participate in Program Support Group Meetings, sharing feedback and observations with families.
- Communicate with Maths, Language and Literature teachers, and the Learning Enhancement team to support skill development in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Contribute to the monitoring of skill acquisition and recording of intervention participation.
- Participate in intervention training.
- Recognised Victorian Working with Children Check registration is mandatory.
- Certificate IV in School Based Education Support.
- Experience working with students with diverse needs.
- Solid understanding of curriculum content taught from Years 6-12.
- Understanding of the Middle Years Program (MYP) is preferable.
