  • Full-time, Fixed Term position until 01/08/2025

  • Salary HEW 6 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About The Position


The Learning Design Officer will play a crucial role in supporting high-quality digital learning for RMIT’s courses and programs, particularly within Blended Learning environments. The incumbent will address strategic priorities at the School, College, and University levels, ensuring that digital learning implementations align with University principles. 

Additionally, they will collaborate closely with Senior Learning Designers and Learning Designers, contributing to project management and ensuring accurate reporting of project milestones across various projects. We welcome applications from current project officers within the University.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Knowledge of digital learning principles and practices (experience in Canvas or similar LMS desirable)

  • Strong project coordination skill and experience

  • Coordination experience in a digital learning resource production environment.

  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and proven ability to secure the cooperation and engagement of a wide range of people within a complex environment. 

  • Highly-developed organisational, planning and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to encourage and facilitate systems and work practices that are collaborative, support a team environment and adhere to procedures, standards and guidelines. 

  • Relevant experience in a University environment (desirable).

Future-focused, discipline specific, program and course design and development (new and refresh); digital and blended learning; Learning Design:

  • Using student-centred principles and practices to create engaging, relevant and informative learning journeys.

  • UX, SX and digital development in courses and programs

  • Purposeful use of educational technology

  • Program and course design and development 

  • Curriculum, assessment and pedagogy consultation and evaluation

  • Lead blended learning implementation in the College
