Advanced Traffic Management, MTM SA & Traffic Control Services are seeking a Traffic Plan Designer and Permits Officer to join our team.

The Advanced Traffic Management Group is a thriving family business with a strong and diverse Management Team with decades of experience in our industry that we are willing to share with our team members.  

Our business spans multiple states and our Planning Team work for all of our business divisions. 

This is a new role created to support our existing team as our Planning Team sees consistent growth and with new industry changes we anticipate that our team will continue to have increased demand for its requirements. 

The role of Planning and Permits Officer is an important one within the team and must have flexibility to work to suit our Field Operations Teams requirements for timely work turnaround and follow up to ensure permits are approved. 

This is a work from home role with support to our Depots based in Hallam & Ravenhall in Victoria, Wingfield in South Australia and Ballina in Northern NSW. 

The role will report directly to the Planning Manager. 

Applicants with previous traffic guidance scheme and traffic management plan design experience will be preferred however for very experienced field traffic management operatives that are keen to move into this area of the industry we would also love to hear from you as we are keen to employ the right fit for the team. 

The Traffic Plan Designer & Permits Officer would be responsible for: 

  • Designing TGS & TMP on a daily basis to suit business demands and internal KPI's. 
  • Applying for MOA's, Permits and Road Occupancy Licences from various road authorities. 
  • Providing TGS & TMP Guidance and advice to our Project Management Team. 
  • Liaising with public transport and other key stakeholders to manage disruptions. 
  • Providing advice and urgent amendments to support our Field Traffic Management Teams. 
  • Field auditing to ensure TGS/TMP compliance
  • Participation in online or onsite meetings to support the Project Management Team. 
  • Participation in after hours call roster. 

Applicants must have: 

  • Current Traffic Control and Implement Qualifications in either Victoria, South Australia or New South Wales. 
  • Current OHS (White) Card 
  • Drivers Licence 
  • Own reliable transport 
  • Current Prepare Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Scheme - RIICWD503E - or be willing to obtain the new TMD Qualifications (see below). 

Skills to include: 

  • Ability to develop relationships with internal colleagues and clients alike. 
  • Can do attitude. 
  • Must be able to manage a wide range of diverse and interesting personalities. 
  • Use software systems and learn systems such as Traffio. 
  • Traffic Plan Drafting (preferred but not essential - see note below)

Traffic Management Designer Qualification note:

Our industry has seen a recent change to the requirements for field operatives and designers. If applying for this role and you have the current RIICWD503E Qualification you will be required to transition to the new qualification level as required when your current ticket is reaching its expiry date. 

If you do not currently have your RIICWD503E qualification in order to be successful in the role you will have to obtain as a minimum TMD1 (Traffic Management Designer 1) RIISS00063 - Traffic Management Designer Skill set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads. You will also have to commit to additional training to upskill to TMD 3 over a period to be discussed and agreed upon. 

If you are new to design work or have experience in the Traffic Design field but are lacking a real team environment - we provide a collaborative team environment one where we are keen to share ideas and design work so that the team can learn & improve on our design and planning work. 

This is a Full Time role - Salary and employment conditions are based on experience and will be discussed within the interview phase.
