About the team

The Right now, we have two opportunities for Learning Design Specialists to join us in the Digital Systems Program (DSP) for an 18 month fixed term contract.

The is a transformational change program implementing European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 within NSW. This project will have a broad impact across impact Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink.

The opportunity

The two roles are responsible for creating engaging content for learning initiatives using a variety of learning creation tools and techniques.. The program will develop facilitated classroom based training, self-paced eLearning, and solutions leveraging technology such as training simulators and virtual reality. Training will primarily be focused on technical content for Train Crew, Engineers and Maintainers, and Rail Operations experts, but will also support education on new business processes and assist our people through the journey of change. Developing robust competency assessments will be critical given the safety-critical nature of the training content.

The Learning Design Specialists will be embedded within the project team in their , and will work closely with suppliers and industry experts. They will also maintain a close working relationship with other parts of the Learning & Development branch based in the Petersham Training College.

Key accountabilities
  • Create engaging, high quality and compelling course content and artefacts that meet the required needs of our clients.
  • Engage with clients to identify specific learning outcomes and or requirements inclusive of delivery methods, content type and regulatory and legislative outcomes or requirements.
  • Use Learning and Assessment Strategies (LAS), story boards and supporting artefacts to create detailed course content for varied audiences cover a broad range of learning levels.
  • Create supporting learning material such as audio, video, simulations, work instructions, quick reference guides, role plays, games etc. that align to client objectives.
  • Build engaging exercises and course content that enhances the learning experience.
  • Design assessment tools that appropriately measure learner competencies, including but not limited to knowledge and skills.
  • Ensure training artefacts developed are in line with the required and or agreed standards/regulations and where applicable develop learning content that meet the compliance standards as outlined within the relevant VET Standards and or Regulatory requirements.

About you

You are a qualified Learning Design Specialist or Instructional Designer looking for an opportunity to make a difference in Transport.

You will have 3 years Learning Design experience. Ideally, you also have a strong grasp of the use of E-learning authoring tools and demonstrated experience designing online and face to face learning programs.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Previous experience working within an instructional design team or group.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Standards for RTOs 2015.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of corporate computing systems and applications in creating documents, training artefacts materials, editing and publishing.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of learning creation tools
  • Proven experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of learning programs, products and artefacts.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 (or its successor or equivalent) and/or other relevant tertiary qualifications, or demonstrated equivalent relevant experience.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Grade 8A ($123,470) - 8E ($138,284) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
