The Role
This is a fixed term role for 12 months, working up to 73.5 hours per fortnight, based at our Alanvale campus.
The Learning Support Tutor supports delivery teams by providing tutoring support to students undertaking vocational education and training programs, on an individual and small group basis through face-to-face, email and online contact.
You will be responsible to:
- Support deliver teams by providing tutoring to students individually and in small groups, to enable students to understand learning materials and carry out theory and practical tasks.
- Develop effective tuition strategies and techniques to support our students.
- Develop and maintain learning materials and resources, including online content.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, technical employees, administration staff, TasTAFE support teams, and through industry consultation, to create a positive experience and successful outcomes for our students.
- Support teachers in meeting compliance functions by inputting information to the Learning Management System (LMS) and updating documentation etc.
- Assist students to understand the practical application of their learning. This will include liaising with teachers, technical employees, administration staff, students, quality consultants, e-learning consultants and Education Managers.
We are seeking applications from candidates who have experience in the Automotive industry and have a keen desire to support our next generation of Automotive Tradespeople. For those with an appropriate vocational qualification, this role has the potential to evolve into a teaching position with TasTAFE (after successfully demonstrating ability to tutor both individuals and small groups).
These are the capabilities required to undertake the role successfully:
- Experience in the Automotive industry, with a sufficient level of skills and knowledge to tutor students in theory and practical based tasks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of vocational education and training with the capacity to tutor individuals and groups, whilst understanding individual learning needs.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sufficient digital proficiency to prepare learning documentation, create online learning content, operate various digital applications and systems and assist students to access and operate online learning platforms.
If you are successful in obtaining a role with TasTAFE, you will need to hold, or obtain, the following:
- Current Registration to work with vulnerable people in Tasmania.
- Automotive Trade Certificate (not essential)
- Experience in a vocational and education training environment.
- Previous experience training/supervising apprentices
