ABOUT THE OFFICE The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two national schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry-focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer. ABOUT THE ROLE The School of Arts & Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Psychology, both as stand-alone programs and as electives within the BA Arts. We are seeking an academically qualified candidate with experience in tertiary education and ongoing engagements with relevant organisations and accrediting bodies to join the School on our Sydney campus. Our ideal candidate is registered as a psychologist with experience in teaching psychological interventions, psychological assessment, and placements. The appointee will deliver courses and contribute to research in the discipline area within a full-time loading, although we are happy to consider part-time arrangements for suitable candidates. Key Responsibilities The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions as appropriate within the discipline of Psychology.Initiation and development of course material.Course coordination.The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.Supervision of the program of study of honours students and of postgraduate students engaged in course work.The conduct of research.Significant role in research projects including, where appropriate, leadership of a research teamInvolvement in Professional activityConsultation with students.Broad administrative functions.Marking and assessment.Attendance at departmental and/or faculty meetings and a major role in planning or committee work. Qualifications & Experience A PhD in Psychology in addition to an APAC accredited psychology program of study. Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Board approved supervisor status from the Psychology Board of Australia with experience in clinical supervision. Knowledge of, and ability to apply, APAC accreditation standards to curriculum development and implementation. Significant experience in tertiary education or equivalent industry experience in the relevant discipline area. Knowledge, skills & abilities Proven ability to prepare, coordinate and deliver high quality teaching and learning in a sequence of APAC accredited Psychology programs, including the ability to lead curriculum development informed by contemporary developments in psychology education and related disciplines. Ability to lead academic and/or professional learning, teaching, research, practice and/or provide student support. Demonstrated track record of quality research in the field of psychology relative to level. Experience contributing to a research team or project/s is desirable. Demonstrated ability and ongoing willingness to encourage, facilitate and supervise the research of professional, Honours, HDR, and PhD students in Psychology. Demonstrated commitment to cultural awareness, safety, and security, including when engaging professionally with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
